IPL Photo Rejuvenation, also known as skin rejuvenation or facial rejuvenation, is a safe and effective way of improving the colour and texture of your skin. Here at Skin Care Australia we use medical grade Palomar IPL and SuperLux IPL machines. They are trusted and proven throughout the world, and are the gold standard for which other IPL machines are measured by.
HOW DOES FACIAL REJUVENATION WORK?
As far as the skin is concerned there are two types of ageing, intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic ageing happens we grow older, our skin naturally becomes thinner and drier. The skin is less elastic due to the diminished amounts of collagen. What used to bounce back begins to sag and deep wrinkles may begin appearing. The rate of these events is genetically determined for each person and the process first becomes noticeable between the ages of 30 and 35.
Extrinsic ageing results from exposure to the environment. Extrinsic ageing is the critical element in determining who looks older or younger than their biological age. Exposure to sunlight is a key contributor to extrinsic ageing. Photoaging occurs when elastin and a collagen breakdown are not replaced. As a result, fine lines and wrinkles intensify. Photoaging also causes pigment changes with the development of age spots (sun-induced freckles) and uneven skin tone. Spider veins and dilated capillaries are another sign of photoaged skin.
Lifestyle choices also have an impact on extrinsic ageing. Cigarette smoking and excessive alcohol consumption contributes to the breakdown of elastin and collagen, and as a result, impairs the body’s healing capacity. It is effective on red blemishes that originate from blood vessels, as well as brown pigment blemishes in the form of freckles, age spots and other sun damage.
PHOTO REJUVENATION IS RECOMMENDED FOR:
• Red spots
• Fine lines
• Sun damage
• Facial veins
• Collagen stimulation
WHAT TO EXPECT
Photo rejuvenation treatment is quick and relatively pain free. Our experienced team will assess the skin to be treated, then systematically move the hand piece over the selected area. At the end of the treatment the skin will feel warm, just like after mild sun exposure. The area may look slightly red for several hours, and it is normal for brown pigmented lesions to look darker for a a few days.
On average, two to three rejuvenation treatments are recommended. These will be scheduled at 2-4 week intervals. Each session usually lasts about 10-30 minutes. Patients can return to normal activity immediately afterwards. IPL treatments provide gradual, natural improvement with excellent long-term results.
